Heat brown sugar, soy sauce, water, and lemon juice. Boil, uncovered, until the sugar is melted, stirring occasionally. Marinate salmon steaks in the sauce for an hour or two.

Cook on a well-oiled medium-hot barbecue grill for 4 or 5 minutes per side. Serve with lemon slices.
